The Bahá’í Faith was founded upon a divine revelation entrusted by God to His two Messengers for this age, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh. The unity that characterizes the Bahá’í Faith today stems from the explicit writings and guidance established by Bahá’u’lláh to preserve the continuity of divine guidance and ensure the ongoing direction of the Faith after His passing.
This succession, known as the Covenant, passed from Bahá’u’lláh to the Center of His Covenant, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá; then to the Guardian of the Faith, Shoghi Effendi; and lastly to the Universal House of Justice, the institution ordained by Bahá’u’lláh.
Bahá’ís believe in the divine station of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh and recognize the authority of the institutions and individuals designated within this Covenant.
